Had the same problem at work.
The real pain in the ass is that the most current libmySQL.dll doesn’t seem to work all that good for specific edge cases. So if you ever receive strange error messages, try to switch to a lower version of the dll

I’m having such a great experience with gedit with plugins, almost the same comfortable rails editing as textmate, although some features are not as sophisticated as in tm. Quite recommendable!

Support you’re writing in english now, would be a shame to restrict to the germans only. Besides I’ll pick up you’re topic covering the whole rails process on a standard Apach, PHP Environment with a few tutorials of symphonie.

nice links here. besides reading the tutorials etc, and maybe if you passed the point of getting started, i suggest to follow datamapper, rails etc. on twitter to get up-to-date information about them and to read some blogs of the developers.. ( acts_as_flinn etc ).
